TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:
WHEREAS Bill 110, Building Billy Bishop Airport Act gives Premier Doug Ford the power to seize control of the Toronto Islands, Billy Bishop Airport, and Little Norway Park; and
WHEREAS the Premier has declared the airport a special economic zone using the undemocratic Bill 5 which allows the Ontario government to bypass environmental, safety, and municipal laws; and
WHEREAS this land grab undermines the importance of municipal decision-making and public consultation with Waterfront communities; and
WHEREAS expansion of Billy Bishop Airport to include jets threatens affordable housing projects like Ookwemin Minising.
THEREFORE we, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:
Stop Premier Ford from taking over Billy Bishop Airport from the City of Toronto.
