Whereas, the Ford government promised to expand provincial parks in the last election; and
Whereas, the government is currently planning to sell the majority of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park’s beachfront lands; and
Whereas, the Ford government is amending the Provincial Parks Act to make it easier to sell other provincial parklands; and
Whereas, this government has a track record of selling and leasing public land to insiders and friends of the Premier including: Ontario Place; the Greenbelt, the Foundry, and the Hearn gas plant;
Therefore we, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:
Immediately stop the sale of the majority of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park’s beachfront lands, not amend the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, and recognize its responsibility to hold provincial parklands in trust for future generations.
