Ontario’s public colleges power our economy. They train the next generation of talent, create good jobs in communities across our province, and help shape the future of our province.
In more than 200 communities across Ontario – including many small, northern and rural communities – college campuses are also anchor institutions. They work with local employers to meet local and regional workforce needs, employ hundreds of college faculty and staff, and provide community access to campus facilities for recreation, arts, culture, and more.
However, underfunding under Ford’s watch means that our public colleges and universities are languishing.
Ford’s latest budget cut $2 billion from post-secondary education. We need a change from how Liberal and Conservative governments have allowed operational funding for colleges to decline, leaving Ontario dead last in the country for per-student financing (just 44% of the average of other provinces).
Tell Ford and his Ministers: Increase the base-funding formula for Ontario colleges and universities now!
