To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS Ontario's Education Act guarantees every child a right to an education;
WHEREAS the TDSB's diagnostic kindergartens provide vital supports for kids with complex learning, developmental or medical needs, ensuring their ability to learn and be safe at school;
WHEREAS the Conservative-appointed TDSB Supervisor's 2025 decision to raise class sizes in diagnostic kindergartens has led to worse learning conditions and more injuries for both students and education workers;
WHEREAS the TDSB's planned closure of 15 diagnostic kindergartens (nearly 1 in 3) will mean more special needs kids pushed out of classrooms and forced to go without the supports they need;
WHEREAS the Auditor General has found that the Conservative government is dramatically underfunding special education, leading to increased violence, staffing shortages and exclusions of special needs kids;
THEREFORE WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, PETITION THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO AS FOLLOWS:
To stop the planned diagnostic kindergarten closures, reverse the class size increase, and raise special education funding to match the growing need so all Ontarian children have access to the safe and supported classrooms they deserve.
